Adviser E-Blast #5 – National FBLA Educational Partner Programs
LifeSmarts is a national educational competition focused on personal finance and consumer topics. It complements the curriculum already in place in schools and can be used as an activity for classes, student leadership organizations, clubs, and community organizations. This free program, open to 6th-12th-grade students in the United States, quizzes students about personal finance, technology & workforce preparation, consumer rights & responsibilities, health & safety, and the environment.

The Fall 2025 results are in and a New York FBLA Chapter, Jericho HS, has advanced to the performance round of this event to be held at the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, TX at the end of June 2026.  Congratulations Jericho FBLA!

Adviser E-Blast #4 – NYS FBLA is Seeking State Officer Applicants for the 2026-2027 School Year
Campaigning for and serving as a FBLA State Officer is a unique and rewarding learning experience that helps develop leadership, decision making, public speaking, and writing skills as well as lifelong friendships and memories.  NYS FBLA has 21 available State Officer positions.  The links to the State Officer Application and Info. Packet are below. This material has been on the state website since September so hopefully your members have reviewed and determined if this is something they might wish to pursue. First deadline is November 26, 2025.  Applicants must be rostered and dues paid by December 19 in order to participate in the Spring District Meeting where the State Officer Exam will be given.

  1. Please be sure to read the entire state officer candidate packet. There are several important requirements that must be met if you are interested in running for state office or if you are interested in being considered for State Parliamentarian.

3..Request an interview.

  1. Email tjohanson@nysfbla.org to request an interview before or up to November 26, 2025 at 11:59 pm. NO EXCEPTIONS. Email must be sent from your personal email address and cc your adviser.
  2. Attach all required documents outlined in step #2 above to the email at the time of your requests. c. Mr. Johanson will notify the candidate and adviser with your scheduled interview date and time. All advisers must attend the interview. d. All interviews will be completed by December 8, 2025. AFTER THE INTERVIEW:
  3. Complete the online State Officer Application and upload all required documents no later than December 15, 2025 by 11:59pm. Failure to do so will render you ineligible to run for state office. NO EXCEPTIONS. 2. You will receive an email confirming your submission along with your study guide no later than December 22, 2025. Study guide is for the State Officer Exam which you must take at your Spring District Meeting. 3. Following your completion of the State Officer Exam, the candidate will receive an email with the next step.

Adviser E-Blast #3 – Two NYS FBLA Deadlines coming up this week (10/26)
Congratulations to the 30 NYS FBLA chapters that have met NYS FBLA Earlybird Membership Status so far by rostering and paying dues for  a minimum of 5 members.There is still time for all of our chapters to earn this ribbon award for the SLC if you submit your rosters and process payment by credit card of state/national dues by Friday, October 31.  This must be done through FBLA Connect on the national website (www.fbla.org).  If you do not have your FBLA Connect login and password info, please contact me or the national office for a reset of your login and password.

The second deadline coming up on November 1, is for articles for the NYS FBLA state newsletter, FBLA Express.  The State Reporter, Siddharth Ranganathan is seeking articles as follows:

State Competitive Events Guidelines are still being updated  because Nationals keeps making updates as people proofread them!   We will send an email blast once the 2025-2026 State Competitive Event Guidelines have been uploaded to the state website.

FBLA Membership is open and can be accessed by going to the National website at www.fbla.org and logging into FBLA Connect.

Membership dues are a combined $16.00 per member ($6 for State and $10 for National.All dues are payable to National FBLA and must be paid by the below noted deadlines.  NYS FBLA Membership Deadline Dates are:

  • State/National Dues must be PAID by October 31, 2025 for chapter to be eligible for Early Bird Membership status (will earn members who attend the SLC an Early Bird ribbon).
  • State Officers must have their state/national dues PAID  by October 31,2025.
  • Any member that wishes to participate in competitions that will be held at the Spring District Meetings must have their state/national dues PAID by December 19, 2025.
  • Any member who wishes to compete at the 2026 State Leadership Conference must have their state/national dues  PAID by January 16, 2026.
