February Update
Hello, New York FBLA! I hope you had a great February, especially if you had some time off from school this month.

We hope you enjoyed FBLA Week and took advantage of the resources that the national team provided! I loved seeing the photos and posts on social media this month of the great activities different chapters have been doing to stay involved in FBLA.

As Chair of the Community Outreach and Engagement Committee, it was a treat to finally see your Program of Work submissions. We worked on those during the summer, so seeing members go above and beyond to complete the challenges was thrilling!

With the road to SLC ramping up, it would be wise to start working on your events if you have not begun already. My tips for a winning project are time, teamwork, and remembering to be creative with your ideas.

As always, feel welcome to send your articles and photos to me at reporter@nysfbla.org or DM me @tulesifbla on Instagram. Submissions are closed for the final edition of The FBLA Express. Stay tuned in to read it in March!

January Update
Hello, New York FBLA! I hope you had a great start to the year.

This month, there are a lot of updates from NYS FBLA, since the state officers attended the January Joint Meeting (JJM) from the 26-28th to discuss and plan for the upcoming State Leadership Conference (SLC). During JJM, the officers discussed their progress so far during the year, discussed event ideas, and began preparing for the workshops available for you all to attend at SLC. We are so excited to see you all in Rochester in April!

Spring District Meetings are coming up for many members. Please feel free to take pictures or write articles about the meetings and send them to us! We would love to feature your SDM in The FBLA Express.

In other news, the due date of February 15 for the Program of Work is approaching soon. As Chair of the Community Outreach and Engagement Committee, I look forward to your creative submissions for Veteran Voices, Scrapbook Scramble, Ad Madness, and Peaceful Podcast.

As always, feel welcome to send your articles and photos to me at reporter@nysfbla.org or DM me @tulesifbla on Instagram. Submissions are open for the Spring Edition of The FBLA Express. This will be the last newsletter I will put together during my term, so I am excited to hear from members across the state. I can’t wait to hear from you!

State Officer Applications were due last month. Congratulations to all who applied, we look forward to seeing you at the SLC! With the new year comes many new goals for FBLA, along with beginning to prepare for the Spring Leadership Conference. Be sure to use the resources on the website and from past years to get ready for all of your events and start compiling info for Chapter of the Year.

This month, applications for the NYS FBLA Honor Society are due on the 28th. This is a great opportunity to get more involved in FBLA and have it on your resume as proof of your leadership, academic, and extracurricular achievements.

September Update
Hello, New York FBLA! I hope that the first couple weeks of school have been great. This September, many new updates have been added to the NYS FBLA website.

Challenges are posted for the NYS Program of Work! Be sure to participate in the Early Bird challenge this month, which is due by October 31. If you haven’t already, check out your district newsletters and read the Summer Edition of the FBLA Express. Many Fall District Meetings are this month, so be sure to check those out as well.

This October, you can submit articles and photos to the Fall Edition of the FBLA Express! We want to hear from you. If you or your chapter has done any activities this year, or even just some photos of your chapter, please submit them to be featured. By writing articles and submitting pictures, you are contributing to FBLA at the state level. At SLC, these submissions can also help you demonstrate chapter activities for “Chapter of the Year”.

August Update
Hello, New York State FBLA! I hope you had an amazing summer and are ready for the new school year. As FBLA meetings will ramp up this month, I hope you will use the many opportunities that FBLA has to offer.

Firstly, the Welcome Back Edition of The FBLA Express is completed and can be found under “Chapter Resources” on the website. This edition introduces the state officers, recaps the NLC in Atlanta, and introduces the new NYS Program of Work!

With recruiting, chapter meetings, and fundraising for FBLA to start the school year, be sure to take plenty of pictures of your school’s initiatives. It is a great way to capture memories, be featured in the FBLA Express, and can help you later on for SLC, especially if your chapter competes in Chapter of the Year. If you plan to submit content, please keep in mind that article and picture submissions for the Fall edition of the FBLA Express are due on October 30, 2023.

Additionally, district newsletters will be published throughout the year. If you want to be involved, ask your district’s SVP how you can help! If you would like your district newsletters to be featured in The Express, you can also forward them to me.

As always, you can contact me at reporter@nysfbla.org anytime. Lastly, be sure to follow @newyorkfbla on Instagram–the state officers are trying to post more updates there!

July Update
Hello, New York State FBLA! My name is Tulesi Suresh, and I’m a rising senior at Williamsville East High School near Buffalo. I’m so excited to be serving as your State Reporter this year.

I first joined FBLA as a freshman after taking my first business class. Since then, I have served as a chapter officer, improved my public speaking, and competed at the state and national levels. As Reporter, I will be publishing NYS FBLA’s quarterly newspaper, The FBLA Express. My goal this year is to represent all districts of New York State and inform members about upcoming opportunities and initiatives. I aim to accomplish this through social media engagement and informative articles about what NYS FBLA is up to this year.

The first edition of The FBLA Express was created during the State Officer Training in July. This was a six-day trip in which the officer team and State Board of Trustees met to prepare and plan for the upcoming FBLA year. For the remaining editions, all NYS FBLA members are encouraged to submit articles and photos for publication.

If you would like your chapter’s FBLA to be represented in the Fall Edition of The FBLA Express, please submit articles and photos to reporter@nysfbla.org by October 30, 2023. You can also use this email address at any time for questions or suggestions. I can’t wait to hear from you!
