Jackson Van Dekker Updates
Hello New York State FBLA! I hope everyone has had an amazing summer. Your state
officer team has been busy planning a ton of great things for the upcoming year, and we could
not be more excited to hopefully have a strong start to a new year of NYS FBLA.
One thing that I have been working on with Rebecca Hoang and Kiah Mehta are possible
ideas for NYS FBLA merch. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we have come up with some great
ideas that we are eager to share with NYS FBLA as soon as possible. However, as do many
things in FBLA, our ideas require planning, research, and the proper due diligence to ensure the
execution that NYS FBLA members deserve. It is our promise to work our hardest to make our
plans come to fruition.
Many districts will be having their First District Meeting in the coming months, and the
State Officer Team hopes all members are able to attend and enjoy themselves to the fullest.
Beyond FBLA, the school year begins in the upcoming days, and along with that comes a
lot of nerves. It is perfectly normal to be anxious for change, but it is important to remember that
every new opportunity comes with new chances for FBLA members to flourish. We hope
everyone has a strong start to the new school year, as we hit the ground running into the next
year of FBLA.

Hello New York State FBLA! I hope everyone is enjoying a pleasant summer. I know that I am beyond excited to be serving as your NYS Historian for the upcoming school year. As your historian, I believe it is important for NYS FBLA’s legacy to be preserved. It is my promise to dedicate myself to my duties, and to the betterment of NYS FBLA.
Like many of you reading this update, I have a strong interest in the realm of business. FBLA has been one of my first steps into the business world and has taught me valuable lessons to use as I start my career. The Career Development Committee and I hope to give NYS FBLA members the opportunity to test out some of those skills, like resume building or interviewing, and hopefully improve them in the process. We encourage all members to participate in this year’s Program of Work, and do not hesitate to reach out to myself, or any of the Career Development Committee members with any questions or concerns.
Beyond business, I am passionate about learning history. Sadly, I have run out of history courses to take at my high school, but I have learned valuable lessons from them. One thing I have realized through learning history is that there are so many important events that humans will never know simply because they were never recorded. That is why I view documenting the important events happening all throughout NYS FBLA to be a top priority. I know I will be taking pictures and videos of the conferences I attend, but I cannot be everywhere. I invite all members to take pictures of any of their chapter or district events; to share the fun and interesting activities their chapter will participate in this year.
Going into the last month before school starts again, I hope everyone has been having an eventful and relaxing summer break. I am very excited to begin the year as a State Officer and look forward to a great year in FBLA!
