I hope everyone is gearing up for their Spring District Meetings.  I wanted to share some updates to the FBLA Competitive Events Guidelines and reminders of upcoming deadlines.

Since the FBLA Competitive Events Guidelines was first published online at the end of September, three updates were made.  The most up-to-date guidelines are posted online.

  • On December 12, National FBLA released a correction to the Future Business Educator Presentation Rating Sheet.  Under Demonstrates strong self-confidence, appropriate assertiveness and enthusiasm, the exceeds expectation column was updated to:  Competitor led the lesson plan interaction and effectively used time.
  • National FBLA added an X to the Role Play column on the At-a-Glance page for Parliamentary Procedure Team event.
  • The NYS-only event, Introduction to FBLA Creed Speaking, was inadvertently left off the At-a-Glance page.  It has been added.

Upcoming deadlines:

  • January 19 – the last day to PAY dues for members wanting to compete at SLC

For your planning purposes, attached to this email blast is the 2024 SLC Rates and Dates.  It has been published on our website since August as well.

#5 — Dues Reminder (1/8/2024)
Happy New Year.  I hope everyone’s holiday season was great.

Spring District Meetings (SDM) are being planned.  Dates for the SDMs are located on the website calendar.  You should be hearing from the person planning the SDM shortly; some of them have already.

January 19 is the final day to pay dues for members the wish to compete at the State Leadership Conference (SLC) in April 10-12 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.  The SLC Mailing (our document that contains information on SLC and registration information) will be posted on the website during the first few days in February.

I asked Nationals how to remove unpaid members (whether they graduated or are no longer interested in joining this year).  Their response was to complete a Help Ticket and ask for those students to be removed.  You can also leave students in unpaid status.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Paying dues allows students/chapters access to all student activities available through national and state FBLA (such as the Business Achievement Awards and Chapter Champion Challenge on the national level and the Program of Work on the state level – along with a host of other activities that you can find on our state and national websites).
