November Update
Big hello to District 1S! I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! I’ve been pretty busy this month studying for the November (and December) SAT, along with schoolwork, sports and other extracurriculars, the fall/wintertime is very busy for everyone. I was personally very busy with planning out our Fall District Meeting over the past couple weeks, and I am super proud of every one of us who attended! I hope you guys learnt something—or at least had some fun. Now that FDM is over, I’ve been coordinating with Hofstra University to start planning out our Spring District Meeting, which will be held on January 18th (be sure to save the date!). Check with your advisor to sign up for any written and verbal events. Additionally, its State Officer Application season, so if you made the November 22nd deadline and you’re still interested, be sure to fill out the Applicaiton by December 15th, and be sure to be studying the NYS FBLA website and handbook for the state officer exam (which you will take during SDM). Is it imperative you submit the application on time and pass the test! Good luck and reach out if you need help. Finally, if your FBLA chapter is hosting any fundraisers for our state charity—K9’S for Warriors— and you need help sending in the donations, reach out to me! Finally, good luck for all those participating in the Huntington Commerce Emerging Leaders
Competiton at St. Joseph’s. I hope to see you all there! Have a healthy and happy Thanksgiving District 1S, and as always, don’t hesitate to send me an email with any questions.

October Update
Hello to District 1-S, it’s Manya, your State Vice President back with another update! I hope everyone is having a good month prepping for the PSAT, end sports season and working hard as the first marking quarter comes to an end!

As I mentioned last month, it’s a busy time for the State Vice President team as we prepare for our annual Fall District Meetings! This year, District 1-S and 1-N will be meeting at Hofstra University, where we will be greeted by the esteemed staff from the Hofstra Business School. It will be a day filled with lots of learning, networking, food and fun. Along with that, district officer applications will be distributed and sent out to your advisors. Make sure to check in with them if you’re interested, and definitely check in with your local advisor to register for FDM. I hope to see you all there! Other than that, remember to stay active on completing Program of Work activities, because some of the fun ones can take a little while. Be sure to send in any pictures to Ms. Mikayla Zeldin, our NYS Historian to be featured at SLC, in Newsletters or any other showcase. As always, reach out with any questions, pictures or concerns at svp1s@nysfbla.org.

September Update
Hello District 1S! It’s your State Vice President back with an update! I hope everyone is having a successful start to the school year, and good luck to everyone involved in fall sports! Back-to-school season is always busy, but especially for the State Vice  President team, as we are approaching our Fall District Meetings! Our district will plan a meeting on October 27, at Hofstra University. Your local chapter advisors should have received more information, so make sure to check with them if you plan on attending. During FDM, you’ll get the opportunity to hear a couple words from Steve Easterbrook, the former president and CEO of McDonald’s. You’ll also learn how to apply for state office, along with many other business-related workshops from professors from Hofstra. There’ll be snacks, engaging lectures, and several amazing networking opportunities, so I hope to see everyone there! Also, make sure to check in with your local chapter advisor if you plan on applying to be a district officer. They should have received the requirements and application packet, and I encourage everyone who is interested in the state office or anyone  looking for additional opportunities to get involved in FBLA to apply. Furthermore, as mentioned in previous updates, there are several amazing opportunities to get involved with FBLA, do volunteer work, and plan events with your peers by completing Program of Work tasks! There are so many you could choose from, and remember, submissions are due February 15, so make sure to start early. As always, if you have any questions regarding anything, don’t hesitate to email me at svp1s@nysfbla.org or even if you have any questions.

August Update
Hellooo members of District 1-S and New York State FBLA, it’s Manya – your District 1S State Vice President – here with another update. I hope everyone had a relaxing and productive summer! Throughout the month, I’ve been busy studying for the SAT, doing summer research, working out and taking trips with my family and friends. Nevertheless, FBLA is still a big aspect of my life– with National Council applications opening and planning for our upcoming Fall District Meeting. Many of my peers, as well as the other officers who have served on council urged me to apply. Serving on the national council is an amazing opportunity to meet current/former officers, make a statewide impact within the club, and learn several important skills. I urge everyone to apply this year by filling out the application that can be found on FBLA’s official website.

Additionally, this year, FDM for Districts 1-S and 1N will be held at Hofstra University, on a date between the end of October and beginning of November. The day will be filled with various events, workshops, a keynote speaker and snacks. Not only is FDM season the busiest time of year for a state vice president, but it’s one of the most fun, sociable and dynamic events of the whole year– so I encourage everyone to attend! So much planning and communication goes into the event, and everything is currently in the works, so I’ll share more information with chapter advisors regarding the event. Make sure to sign up for workshops, events, and bring all your friends! I hope to see all of you there and reach out to me at svp1s@nysfbla.org regarding any questions or concerns.
